Born in Guangdong, China in perilous times, Wai Sin survived by looking beyond struggle and hunger to find moments of beauty and lessons in resilience and spirit from nature itself. Overcoming enormous obstacles, she has become a master of Chinese calligraphy and watercolor, and has extended that mastery to include western figure and landscape. Each painting tells a beautiful story that delights the eye and ignites the heart. Her work is cherished particularly by collectors wanting to bring the power of Feng Shui into their homes and offices. “I want to connect with people through my paintings to inspire their own connection with inner peace and hope.” -Wai-Sin

Company Name: Floating Cloud Gallery

Preferred Medium: Watercolor, Chinese ink on Shuan Rice Paper

What would you call your ‘style’? My art is deep saturated watercolor in the style of Chinese fusion art.

What are you currently working on? I am currently working on seascapes. It helps that I am located close to the beach! Laguna Beach is a wonderful place to be.

What is a favorite piece of art you created and why?  One of my favorite pieces that I have created is Ocean Spirit because the still moment that I captured inspired me to discover an ocean of infinite peace within myself as I drew this piece. Despite using traditional Chinese skills, I also portrayed Western color and subjects, thus creating my Chinese fusion art. The following artworks have positive energy.

Love at First Sight is another favorite. I love the bright colors on the birds. The background in this painting was inspired by Leonardo daVinci. Also, if you look closely the two birds have different eyes that show their respective emotions. A popular piece among my viewers is Mother’s Love.

Who are your art heroes? My gifts of talent, desire and passion for life were influenced by my artist teachers, like Tong Wen, Lung Zhi-Dot and Yeung Kin Fat, as well as the art of Shih Tao, Chang Da-Chien, Lee Yi Won and O-hsi Yang. However, I acknowledges that my greatest influence and teacher has always been my heart and nature, itself.

What qualities make your art distinctively you? My art focuses on being present with positive and beautiful aspects of life.
